How to More Efficiently Paint Your Home’s Interior

Too many people spend too long painting their house interior and then regret going through that process. Part of the problem is that they just don’t have a decent plan in place for how to paint or they fail to paint their home efficiently.

We are going to give you a few tips that you might find helpful to improve the efficiency and speed that you paint the inside of your house. Prioritize You want to plan out which rooms to paint first.

It will likely take you a couple of weeks to get every room painted, if that is what you are going for, so you want that to make sure you deal with the most important rooms first. Focus on those rooms that you need to use most often, such as the bedroom and kitchen. Then save the other less important rooms for later, such as the basement, den, attic or second bathroom.

Know that it can take some time to get through all the painting, and you may feel tired by the time you get to the second or third room, so try to focus on the ones that you need to use right away. This also minimizes the mess you have to deal with whenever you get back to the painting.

Buy Materials Ahead of Time

A lot of time is wasted going back and forth to get materials. Instead of dealing with multiple trips to the hardware store, you should make out a list of all the things you will need for your painting job and buy them at once. That way, you can just go from painting one room to the next and not have to stop when it is inconvenient for you. This ensures that you will spend as much time painting as possible and not waste your valuable time making tons of trips to the store. It also ensures that once you get in the painting mood, you stay in it more easily until the job is finished.

Use Your Help Efficiently

You should definitely get some people to help you do the painting. Doing an entire house interior is no small job, and you can get burnt out quickly if you try to do it on your own. Ask friends and family members to pitch in, but then don’t make the mistake of just letting them do whatever they want. It’s best if you give them specific jobs. Let them know what they are supposed to be doing so that they don’t waste time by doing nothing and they don’t waste your time by asking a lot of questions.

Find something that they can do fairly well on their own, without much supervision, and then make sure they know what is expected of them. If you do all of this, you should able to work faster and smarter and not be as wasteful with your time. This will allow you to get done with the painting faster and to have a home interior that you can be proud of.
